I am rather old fashioned when it comes to recorded music. While I do use mobile devices for listening, I was brought up with records and a hifi and have always allowed time to sit down and listen to a full album as the musicians intended.
I have always loved working in the studio and when asked to produce albums my primary concern is making the process an experience conducive to producing the best that the musicians can. As a result, I am quite in favour of setting up a studio on location to give the process more of a sense of occasion which translates very positively on record.
I use a Pro Tools system at home and am also getting fluent with LUNA but freelance out of a variety of studio spaces according to the needs of the client.
Mics include: Flea 49 (with some help from Arts Tas), a Neumann U67 RI, 2x Beesneez Mahalia, 2x Lulu fet, 2x Lulu tube, 2x MD421 and a handful of misc ribbons and dynamics.
Aside from engineering and production work I also love being musically involved with the recording process - particularly on records for other people. It is a quite a thrill to see what sounds and lines can be brought to someone else's project.
